You are maybe the most unknown person in this Team. Who are you?

How can I answer that? I’m Benjamin, I live in La Chaux-de-Fonds and have been playing Ultimate for two years in Neuchâtel. As for my personality, you will have to get to know me in person!

How did you get in touch with Ultimate?

I first heard of Ultimate in high school where we played a little in gym class, but with no knowledge of the rules or all the strategy involved in the game. In my third year of University in Neuchâtel, I heard of an Ultimate team called Budwig when they got in the Uni sport schedule. I decided I wanted to learn more about that sport I enjoyed playing in high school!

What’s your Highlight so far in your ultimate career?

I can’t pick a single game or tournament as I’ve only been playing for a short time, but will choose last year in overall, where both myself as a player and Budwig as a team made huge improvements. We managed to win games we would have lost the year before and got great results in tournaments. I’m really looking forward to this year where I will definitely get some awesome highlights with Budwig and the Swiss U23 Team!

You haven’t been playing ultimate for a long period of time, which sports did you do before and what helped you to get that good that fast?

I played football for ten years until I was sixteen. My major force has always been my endurance and therefore I decided to switch to track and field where I was a middle distance runner. I got a few medals in junior Swiss championships and became Swiss U20 champion on the 3000m steeplechase. I think I know what training hard means and that definitely helped me improving fast in Ultimate!

How you can help the Team and what is your major force?

My major force would probably be my speed and endurance! I’m a lefty and that also helps. I can help the team by giving everything I have every time I’m on the field and by bringing my “welsch” spirit in the team!
